But how do you gain one’s trust? According to the author, her team of researchers named seven individual behaviors that encourage trust, which we can easily remember through the acronym BRAVING. The B stands for boundaries, R for reliability, A for accountability, V for vault or the ability to keep secrets, I for integrity, N for non-judgment, and G for generosity.
If you apply these behaviors to yourself, then you can expect a healthy and productive work environment for you and your team.
4. RESILIENCY IS PART OF EVERY BRAVE LEADER’S DNA
In Dare to Lead, we found that learning how to fail helps us to be brave. And as we learn how to fail, we also learn how to be resilient, which in time makes us courageous. Resilience isn’t about being weak or never giving up. It’s about choosing to be strong in the face of adversity and disappointment, even when it hurts.
So to be a brave leader, you should be willing to take bigger risks and fail harder than anyone else and trust in the process that what you’re doing will eventually pay off.
5. PERFECTION ISN’T ALWAYS A GOOD THING
In Dare to Lead, we learned that perfectionism holds us back from self-improvement and true courage. When you’re leading a team, it is vital to aim for progress and not perfection.
